Dehydrating Class (Herbs)

(Updated: Aug. 19, 2021, 8:56 a.m.)
Have you planted an herb garden but aren't able to utilize all the herbs before the plant gets out of control? Maybe you just want to save some of those fresh herbs for use later in the year. Let's get together and learn about dehydrating and how to properly dry a variety of produce, meat, herbs, etc.

Drying or dehydrating is the removal of moisture in food to prevent bacteria, yeast, and mold growth. Dehydrating food is a simple and safe preservation method that can be an alternative to canning or freezing. Common foods to dehydrate include nuts, meat jerky, fruit leathers, and herbs. Join us in learning more about dehydrating as we practice drying HERBS!

We have ONE class available for this preservation method. Be sure to register early, and don't miss out! Class will be held in the Teaching Kitchen within the Government Building.

Registration is FREE and limited to 12 participants per class. THANK YOU to Vidant Beaufort Hospital for a super helpful grant that keeps registration free for all participants.

Registration for September 1, 2021, 10 a.m.–noon
