Join N.C. Cooperative Extension, Hyde County Center for Hike Mattamuskeet, a monthly outdoor social club designed to bring people together through movement, conversation, and exploration at Mattamuskeet.
Hike Mattamuskeet will meet once a month for 1-2hrs from September through May on the 3rd Saturday, with each gathering offering a different way to experience the outdoors. From kayaking and photography to birdwatching, seasonal hikes, wildlife exploration, and more, each month will have something new to discover.
But Hike Mattamuskeet isn't about how far you can walk or how fast you can go.
It's about getting outside and enjoying good company.

Hike Mattamuskeet is for you!
All Ages & All Experience Levels Welcome
You don't have to be an experienced hiker to participate! Hike Mattamuskeet is open to all ages and experience levels. Activities will be designed to provide opportunities for participants to move, explore, and connect at their own pace.
Participants under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Youth ages 15–18 who attend without an adult must be registered in 4HOnline prior to participation.
Come at your own pace, bring a friend, or come ready to meet someone new.
Rain or Shine!
Part of getting outside means sometimes getting a little wet!
Hike Mattamuskeet will meet rain or shine. Meetings will only be canceled in the event of thunderstorms or severe weather that would make participation unsafe.
If weather conditions require a cancellation, participants will be notified using the contact information provided during registration.
When & Where?
Hike Mattamuskeet will meet once a month at 9:00 a.m. on the 3rd Saturday of the month from September - May for 1-2 hours at Mattamuskeet Lodge. Each month's activity will be announced in advance so participants know what to expect and can prepare accordingly.
Registration Preferred
Registration is preferred for each participant in this program, no matter their age. Registering in advance helps us plan activities, prepare materials, and make sure we can provide the best experience possible for participants.
