Safe Plates Training Options

Do you need to complete a food safety class and exam for (re)certification?

Local food retail establishments are required to have at least one person who has completed and passed the national Certified Food Protection Manager exam. This requirement was put on hold for many areas while in-person programming was restricted the past couple years. Since then, NC State's Safe Plates team has created a fully virtual course that covers all necessary information with narrated PowerPoints, interactive questions, PDF resources, quizzes/application exercises/tests/exams, and more. This course is operated through Moodle and is accessible for 365 days from the date of purchase. In-person or Zoom review sessions can be scheduled directly with your local FCS agent.

Proctored exams are administered in-person by Hyde County FCS Agent, CatieJo Black. Exams are offered at either the Ocracoke Community Center or Hyde County Government Center Building (Courthouse). For questions regarding the Safe Plates curriculum, registration, or exam, contact CatieJo at (252) 926-5263 or catiejo_black@ncsu.edu.
