Hyde County 4-H is excited to be offering a fun slate of 4-H Summer Fun programs for everyone to enjoy this year!!! Come join us and create memories that will last a lifetime!

Please be advised, that you must be enrolled in 4-H Online 2.0 to register for the events offered. We will not accept registrations in our office or over the phone (except for overnight 4-H Summer Camp on June 16th-21st at the Eastern 4-H Center). Listed below are the steps to register for a 4-H Summer Event (spaces are limited for each program).

• Enroll your child in Hyde County 4-H via 4-H Online 2.0(select “Hyde County 4-H | Member at Large” as your club & choose a project that your child is interested in.” Use this document, Family Enrollment Guide, to help enroll your child in 4-H Online 2.0.
• 1) Click on “Member List”, 2) click on “View” by the child’s name that you are registering for, 3) on the left hand side click on the “Events” tab, 4) click on the blue “Register for a New Event” tab. 5) Scroll down to select the Hyde County event that you are registering to attend. (there are other district/state events that will show up as well. Only select the Hyde County event as outlined on this document, 2024 4-H Summer Fun 6) Choose an event and register your child. 7) Repeat as necessary.
• Visit the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Hyde County Center (30 Oyster Creek Rd Swan Quarter, NC 27885 – Suite 117) to pay your registration fees for each event registered for. Your registration is not complete or confirmed until payment is received. (no online payments available – exact cash or make checks/money orders payable to: Hyde County 4-H). Please confirm your registrations in 4-H Online 2.0.

SPACE IS LIMITED AND REGISTRATION DEADLINES ARE GENERALLY ONE WEEK PRIOR TO EACH SPECIFIC EVENT BUT MAY VARY. YOU MUST CALL OUR OFFICE TO REGISTER FOR OVERNIGHT 4-H SUMMER CAMP AT THE EASTERN 4-H CENTER ON JUNE 16TH-21ST. YOU CAN NOT REGISTER IN 4-H ONLINE 2.0 FOR THIS SPECIFIC CAMP!

Hyde, Seek & Discover Day Camp

June 4-6 9am-3pm (Tue-Thu) Ages: 5-12 Mattamuskeet Lodge $60Come join us at the Mattamuskeet Wildlife Refuge for a day of learning and fun. Wildlife education, environmental science, fishing, kayaking, and waterslides! TEEN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!

County/District Activity Day

June 13th (CAD) June 21 (DAD) Ages: 5-18 FreeCome learn how to present in front of crowds while exploring your favorite topics! County Activity Day (CAD) will be at Extension Office and District Activity Day (DAD) will be in Edgecombe County!

4-H Summer Camp

June 16-21 (Sun-Fri) Ages: 8-14 Eastern 4-H Center $250 - $350Join us at the Eastern 4-H Center in Columbia, NC! Come meet new friends as we play games, solve team challenges, swim, rock climb, and go crabbing.

4-H Decoy Carving

June 28 9am-4pm (Friday) Ages: 12-18 The Olde Store $50Learn to carve decoys at The Olde Store (Nebrask, NC) from world-class carvers Chase Luker, a local professional, and Jerry Talton of the Core Sound Decoy Carvers Guild!

Keep Calm and Tie Dye On

July 2 10am-1pm (Tuesday) Ages: 8-12 Cooperative Extension $25Come join us at the Cooperative Extension Office for a fun day of tie dyeing! We will make beach towels and pillowcases just in time for the 4th of July!!!

Durant's Point Kayaking

July 9 10am-2pm (Tuesday) Ages: 8-18 Cooperative Extension $20A nice day at a private beach always sounds great! Come learn and have fun with kayaking basics, water safety, and water games! Meet us at the Hyde County Extension Office.

"Meet a Farmer" Ag Tour

July 10-11 10am-2pm (Wed-Thu) Ages: 5-11 Local Farms $25Let's "Thank a Farmer" by learning what they do with their tractors and crops! Come see where our food comes from with our Ag Agent, Andrea Gibbs! Meet us at the Extension Office.

Master Chef: Hyde County

July 17: 5-7yrs old July 18: 8-12yrs old July 19: 13-18yrs old 10am-2pm (Wed-Fri) The Olde Store $25Come join our new FCS Agent, Lauren Nelson, for some fun days of cooking, baking, and grilling with local food of Hyde County.

4-H Congress

July 22-26 (Mon-Fri) Ages: 13-18 NC State University $200The largest NC 4-H event of the year! Come travel to Raleigh and learn about all of the possibilities in the 4-H world with 4-H'ers from all across the state!

Simply Natural Creamery Tour

July 29 8am-4pm (Monday) Ages: 5-11 Simply Natural Creamery $20Come join us as we travel to Ayden, NC to visit the Simply Natural Creamery and learn about Jersey Cows and enjoy some good ice cream! We will meet at the Cooperative Extension Office.

4-H Search and Rescue Camp

Aug 5 10am-4pm (Monday) Ages: 12-18 Mattamuskeet Lodge $40

Help us solve the mystery of missing people on Mattamuskeet Wildlife Refuge! Learn about drone rescue, search techniques, contour mapping, and much more! Let the search begin!!!
