STEPS TO COMPLETE HYDE COUNTY 4-H LIVESTOCK PROJECT

  1. Register and Sign Letter of Intent (Due by 01/10/2025 w/ $15 Non-Refundable Fee)
  2. Enroll in 4-H Online 2.0
  3. Review 2025 Livestock Rules and Regulations
  4. Complete 4-H Livestock Animal Info/Receipt Form (Due by 02/24/2025 for Lambs/Goats | Due by 02/28/2025 for Hogs)
  5. Complete 4-H Market Information Form (Due by 03/03/2025)
  6. Pickup 4-H Livestock Project Record Books (Week of March 3-7, 2025 – Hyde Extension Office)
  7. 4-H Showmanship Test Link Goes Live (Check Back Here For Link On 03/12/2025)
  8. Write 3 Buyer’s Letters (Due in Hyde Extension Office by 03/20/2025 – handwritten, addressed, stamped, unsealed | Buyer Letter Tips/Guidelines)
  9. Attend A Mandatory 4-H Showmanship Clinic (03/21/2025 at Ponzer Community Building — 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. — FREE   NC 4-H Showmanship School (Swine/Cattle) — 02/15/2025 at Lenoir County Livestock Arena — Registration Due by February 7th — Cost: $20 for youth & $10 for adults)
  10. Sell 3 Little Caesar’s Pizza Fundraiser Kits (Due by 03/31/2025 | Fundraiser ID: 37901 | Create Seller Account | Families can create one account for multiple exhibitors)
  11. Register For 4-H Livestock Fashion Show (Due by 04/09/2025)
  12. Final Day To Register For Optional Weight Check (Must email lee_brimmage@ncsu.edu to schedule a weight check by close of business on 04/09/2025 | Optional Weight Check Day will be on 04/16/2025 – Ponzer Community Building – 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.)
  13. Final Day To Complete 4-H Showmanship Test (Check Back Here For Link – Due by 04/16/2025)
  14. Optional Weight Check Day (04/16/2025 – Ponzer Community Building – 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.)
  15. Complete 4-H Livestock Project Record Book (Due on Show Day – 04/23/2025)
  16. Attend 4-H Livestock Show and Sale (Check-In by NOON – 04/23/2025)
  17. Turn in Thank You Letters and Financial Summaries (Due in Hyde Extension Office by 05/02/2025)
  18. Pick up 4-H Livestock Show Checks (06/30/2025 – 07/02/2025 | Subject to Change)

*Hyde County 4-H staff and volunteers will be conducting random “pen checks” throughout the month of March and/or April to ensure that the wellbeing of all 4-H livestock animals are satisfactory according to our rules, regulations, and evaluations. Parents, guardians, and exhibitors do not have to be present for pen checks. Parents/Guardians will be notified prior to us visiting their residence.
