STEPS TO COMPLETE HYDE COUNTY 4-H LIVESTOCK PROJECT
- Register and Sign Letter of Intent (Due by 01/16/2026 w/ $20 Non-Refundable Fee)
- Enroll in 4-H Online 2.0
- 2026 Livestock Rules and Regulations
- Complete 4-H Livestock Animal Info/Receipt Form (Due by 02/23/2026 for Lambs/Goats | Due by 02/27/2026 for Hogs)
- Complete 4-H Market Information Form (Due by 03/02/2026)
- Pickup 4-H Livestock Project Record Books (Week of March 2-6, 2026 - Hyde Extension Office)
- 4-H Showmanship Test Link Goes Live (Goat Showmanship Test, Lamb Showmanship Test, Hog Showmanship Test)
- Write 3 Buyer's Letters (Due in Hyde Extension Office by 03/19/2026 - handwritten, addressed, stamped, unsealed | Buyer Letter Tips/Guidelines)
- Attend A Mandatory 4-H Showmanship Clinic (03/19/2026 at Ponzer Community Building -- 4:30PM-6:00PM -- FREE | NC Showmanship Clinic (Sheep/Meat Goat) -- Saturday 02/14/2025 at Lenoir County Livestock Arena -- Check website for more information
- Sell 3 Little Caesar's Pizza Fundraiser Kits (TBD | Fundraiser ID: TBA | Create Seller Account | Families can create one account for multiple exhibitors)
- Register For 4-H Livestock Fashion Show (Due by 04/08/2026)
- Final Day To Register For Optional Weight Check (Must email lee_brimmage@ncsu.edu to schedule a weight check by close of business on 04/08/2026 | Optional Weight Check Day will be on 04/15/2025 - Ponzer Community Building - 4:30PM-6:30PM)
- Final Day To Complete 4-H Showmanship Test (Goat Showmanship Test, Lamb Showmanship Test, Hog Showmanship Test) - Due by 04/15/2026)
- Optional Weight Check Day (04/15/2026 - Ponzer Community Building - 4:30PM-6:30PM)
- Complete 4-H Livestock Project Record Book (Due on Show Day - 04/22/2026)
- Attend 4-H Livestock Show and Sale (Check-In by NOON - 04/22/2026)
- Turn in Thank You Letters and Financial Summaries (Due in Hyde Extension Office by 05/01/2026)
- Pick up 4-H Livestock Show Checks (06/30/2026 - 07/02/2026 | Subject to Change)
*Hyde County 4-H staff and volunteers will be conducting random "pen checks" throughout the month of March and/or April to ensure that the wellbeing of all 4-H livestock animals are satisfactory according to our rules, regulations, and evaluations. Parents, guardians, and exhibitors do not have to be present for pen checks. Parents/Guardians will be notified prior to us visiting their residence.
