After this summer 2023, Pandemic EBT benefits will end. The requirements for summer benefits IS different than it has been during this school year. Notably, during the school year, students were only eligible for benefits on a prorated basis per day, if he/she was classified as absent due to COVID or COVID-related. For summer benefits, school absences are not a factor, and your child cannot newly qualify. The student must be receiving National School Lunch Program (NSLP) free or reduced lunch through his or her in-person school system by May 31, 2023. If your child is not receiving free or reduced lunch benefits, it is recommended to apply through your school by May 1, 2023.

How can your child qualify? The student must meet the following criteria:

  1. Student must have attended a traditional in-person school in May 2023 AND
  2. The student must be approved for National
    School Lunch Program (NSLP) free or reduced-price
    meals by May 31, 2023. This can be met in one of the
    following ways:
    • Student applies for NSLP free or reduced-price meals through their school and is approved by May 31, 2023, or
      • Student attended a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) school as of May 2023 (where all students are eligible for free meals), or
      • Student was automatically enrolled in free or reduced-price school meals during 2022-2023 the school year because of participation in the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) program. Visit the Food and Nutrition Services Website and apply by May 1, 2023

How much does your student qualify for with Summer P-EBT?

  • The Summer 2023 P-EBT benefit is a one-time
    summer payment of $120. All eligible school
    children will receive the same benefit amount
    regardless of COVID-19 related school absences
    during the school year.
